Michigan Recap

Gabe and I are back from Detroit and had a fantastic trip.  We actually stayed in Birmingham, which is about 30 minutes outside the city.  We checked out the suburban areas and were pleasantly surprised with how much we liked it there!  Birmingham and its surrounding towns were charming and quaint with cute little downtown areas, neighborhoods with huge beautiful homes (and spacious yards), tree lined streets, great restaurants, and friendly people.  Here are a few pictures from our trip.

I had no idea Birmingham was so charming!! Actually, despite its reputation, Michigan has many charming towns. Looks like you two enjoyed yourself as always!

I'm glad you went and gained (and posted) a new perception of the area.

My mom's husband and I were talking a few weeks ago about Detroit, and how the city is really struggling economically. Hopefully that changes soon (for it's resident's sake especially).

Love your hotel. Looks adorable. Never underestimate a town. Some of the places I dreaded going the most turned out to be the most fun.

What a beautiful hotel! It's sad becuase Michigan always gets a bad rep becuase of Detroit. I've never been, but I'd like to think it's still a great place.

Val I'm so happy to hear you had a great trip. I was thinking about you the other night when I flipped on some HGTV show about people looking to buy their first house and saw all these very cool homes in the greatest neighborhoods in DETROIT!

I live right outside of birmingham and absolutely love it. Michigan definitely surprises people and the further up north you go the prettier it gets.
